FARMERS MARKET!!!

Can you tell by the subject line that I'm excited about the Farmers Market?

I LOVE the farmers market. It's one of my favorite...wait...it's my favorite place to be on Saturday morning if I am not in my bed.  The market is part of my Saturday routine after my morning walk.  In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that I'm addicted to farmers markets.  I can go to a market everyday, but Monday.  And that's because I don't know where one is located.  But if I looked hard enough, I'm sure I could find one.

I can't even say when my love for the market began, but I can tell you, there is nothing better than fresh picked fruits and vegetables.  This is yet another my way to ensure I am eating healthy.  Mainly because when I buy my fruits and veggies, I'm preparing/snacking on them during the week.  Do you eat 4-5 servings per day?  It's really challenging and something you have to be very conscious of.  Try it!

My absolute favorite time to shop at the market is summer time.  I love the summer fruits the best.  Oh...the peaches, nectarines, and sweet corn.. Just the thought right now is making me happy.

During the winter months, selecting fruits is a bit more challenging for me, but I buy at least one apple and orange.  I supplement other fruits with grocery store items that are imported.  Winter veggies are fun because I've been introduced to kale and chard.  There are so many different colors and they look beautiful.  I tend to buy a mixed bunch of kale and I'm so very excited to saute them with my Sunday meal.  I wash them all and put them in a zip lock bag.  I continue to enjoy my kale during the week, so I have fresh kale with my dinner.  Sometimes, that's all I eat.  Another great winter find are greens.  Again, I saute them as well.  For something different, I'll drizzle apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, or lemon juice on either and enjoy.  If you haven't visited a farmers market, I highly encourage you to do so.  There is so much more there and I'm sure you will find and enjoy something new.
